Eligibility Criteria for NGO Darpan or Niti Aayog Registration

To register on NGO Darpan, an NGO must meet specific eligibility criteria:

  1. Legal Status: The NGO must be registered under one of the following legal forms:
    • Societies Registration Act, 1860
    • Indian Trusts Act, 1882
    • Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013
  2. Valid PAN Card: The NGO must possess a valid Permanent Account Number (PAN) card.  
  3. Operational Status: The NGO must be operational and engaged in activities that align with its stated objectives.

Documents Required for Niti Aayog Registration

  1. Duly certified copy of trust deed/certificate of registration and MOA & Bye-Laws
  2. A detailed note on the activities of trust/society so far done and proposed to be done/ in which state and district they are planning their activity
  3. PAN of Organization
  4. Detail of Chief Functionary & Chairman of Organization (PAN CARD , Adhar card, Mobile Number and email ID)
  5. E-Mail Id and Mobile No. of all members/Trustee
  6. Updated Members/ Trustees List of Organization
  7. Pan Card and Adhar card of all members/Trustee

How Long Does the Niti Aayog Registration Process Take?

All non-government organization needs to register under Niti Aayog for receiving grants under various schemes of the government. In order to transact business with line Ministries/ Departments, an NGO has to first sign-up on the NGO-DARPAN portal to obtain a Unique Identity Number (UIN) by furnishing the required details like registration number of the organization, PAN of the organization, PAN and Aadhar details of the office bearers/trustees

Any VO / NGO which is registered as a trust/ society/ a private limited nonprofit company, under section-25 Company of the Indian Companies Act, 1956 can Sign Up on the NGO Darpan .

To be eligible for NITI Aayog registration, your organization must meet the following criteria:

  • It must be a VO or NGO that is registered with the government of India.
  • It must be working in a social or developmental sector.
  • It must have a sound financial management system.
  • It must have a proven track record of working in the field.

The following documents are required for NITI Aayog registration:

  • A copy of your organization’s registration certificate
  • A copy of your organization’s financial statements
  • A copy of your organization’s work plan
  • A copy of your organization’s board of directors’ resolution to register with NITI Aayog
  • A copy of your organization’s PAN card
  • A copy of the PAN cards of your organization’s key personnel

To register with NITI Aayog, you must visit the NGO Darpan website. You can create an account and fill out the registration form. You will need to upload the required documents. Once your application is reviewed and approved, you will be issued a Unique ID. This Unique ID is required to apply for government grants and schemes.

There is no deadline for NITI Aayog registration. However, it is recommended that you register as soon as possible to take advantage of the benefits of being a registered VO or NGO.
