Track your GST registration application status online in seconds using your ARN. Understand every status update and get expert help if your application is pending, on hold, or rejected.
ARN (Application Reference Number) is a unique 15-character code generated automatically by the GST portal the moment a GST registration application is submitted. To check GST registration status by ARN, visit the official GST portal, go to Services > Registration > Track Application Status, select the ARN option, enter your ARN and the captcha code, and click Search. The portal instantly displays the current status of your application - such as Pending for Processing, Pending for Clarification, Approved, or Rejected - without requiring any login.
Once you submit a GST registration application online, the GST portal generates an ARN and sends it instantly to your registered email and mobile number. This ARN acts as your application's tracking ID until the GSTIN is issued.
Tracking your ARN status regularly helps you respond quickly to any officer queries, avoid application rejection due to missed deadlines, and know exactly when your GSTIN and Registration Certificate (Form GST REG-06) are ready for download.
Many applicants miss a "Pending for Clarification" notice simply because they do not check the portal in time. The reply window is only 7 working days, after which the application can be rejected, requiring a fresh submission.

Checking your GST Registration status using ARN takes less than a minute. Follow these steps:
Open the official GST portal in your browser. No login or password is needed to track your application status via ARN.
From the homepage, click on Services, then Registration, and select Track Application Status from the dropdown menu.
On the tracking page, choose ARN as your search criteria from the available options (ARN, SRN, or Submission Period).
Type your 15-character ARN (received via email/SMS at the time of application submission) and enter the captcha code shown.
Click the Search button to instantly retrieve the latest status of your GST registration application.
The portal displays the current status along with the date of the last update - Pending for Processing, Pending for Clarification, Approved, or Rejected.
If the status shows Pending for Clarification, log in and respond using Form GST REG-04 within 7 working days to avoid rejection.
Once approved, log in to the portal to download your GSTIN details and Registration Certificate in Form GST REG-06.
💡 Tip: Save your ARN as soon as you receive it via SMS or email - it is the only reference you need to track your application until your GSTIN is generated. Need to apply for GSTIN first? Click here →
After checking your ARN, the GST portal will show one of the following statuses. Here is what each one means and what action, if any, you should take:
Your application has been successfully submitted and is awaiting review by the GST officer. No action is needed - simply wait for the next status update.
The GST officer has raised a query via Form GST REG-03. You must respond with Form GST REG-04 within 7 working days, or the application may be rejected.
Your application has been accepted. Your GSTIN and Registration Certificate (Form GST REG-06) are now available for download from the portal.
The application was not accepted, either due to insufficient response to a clarification notice or non-compliance found by the officer. The rejection order is available in Form GST REG-05.
If you have not yet received your ARN - meaning the application is still in progress - you can track its status using the Temporary Reference Number (TRN) instead:
| Reference Number | When It Is Used | Where to Find It | Login Required |
|---|---|---|---|
| TRN | Before Part B of application is submitted | Sent via email/SMS during Part A of registration | Yes, login with TRN |
| ARN | After application is fully submitted | Sent via email/SMS & on acknowledgement (REG-02) | No, for status tracking |
| GSTIN | After application is approved | Issued in Form GST REG-06 | Yes, for portal access |

Applicants often face these issues while tracking their GST registration status. Here is how to handle each one:
If the status remains "Pending for Processing" beyond 7 working days, raise a grievance on the GST portal or contact GST helpdesk for follow-up.
If you missed an email/SMS alert for Form GST REG-03, log in to the portal regularly to check for pending notices under Notices and Orders.
Double-check the ARN for typos. The ARN is exactly 15 characters and is case-sensitive in some portal versions.
Review the rejection order (Form GST REG-05) for the exact reason, correct the issue, and file a fresh GST registration application.
A TRN is valid for 15 days. If it expires before Part B is submitted, the application must be restarted from Part A.
If ARN is generated but GSTIN is delayed beyond the usual timeline, it usually means the application is still under officer review or awaiting clarification reply.
Checking your ARN status is not just a formality - it directly affects how quickly and smoothly you get your GSTIN:
Tracking ARN status ensures you never miss the 7-day window to respond to a clarification notice from the GST officer.
Knowing your GSTIN issuance date helps you plan invoicing, vendor onboarding, and e-commerce listings accordingly.
Timely tracking helps you act before deadlines lapse, preventing the need to restart the entire registration process.
As soon as the status changes to Approved, you can immediately download your GST Registration Certificate (REG-06).
