What Is Meesho GST Registration?
“Meesho GST registration” combines two parts:
- Meesho: a popular online marketplace in India that lets individuals and small businesses take orders and sell products using social networks.
- GST registration: the process of registering for a GST number (GSTIN) under India’s tax law for collecting and paying goods and services tax.
Put together, it means signing up for GST so you can sell legally on Meesho.

Why GST Registration Matters on Meesho?
1. Builds Store Credibility
When you have a GSTIN, Meesho shows it on your product listings and invoices. This gives buyers confidence—they see you’re a genuine seller.
2. Legal Requirement
In India, any business with annual turnover over ₹40 lakh (₹20 lakh in some states) must register for GST. Many Meesho sellers cross this limit after a few months.
3. Allows Tax Input Claims
GST lets you claim input tax credit. That means the GST paid on your purchases can be offset by the GST you collect—reducing your overall tax.
4. Smooth Handling of Orders
With GSTIN, Meesho can issue automated invoices and comply with legal tax requirements. This helps your sales flow smoothly, avoiding delays or hold-ups.
Who Should Do Meesho GST Registration?
1. Resellers & Wholesalers
If you buy in bulk and sell on Meesho, GST can reduce your tax cost by offsetting input tax.
2. Growing Sellers
If your turnover is nearing ₹40 lakh (or ₹20 lakh in threshold states), registering early helps avoid late-penalty trouble.
3. Businesses Selling Pan-India
GST allows unified tax compliance across states, with input claim benefits across the country.
4. Service Providers
If you offer services via Meesho (like styling advice or custom stitching), GST is required above the threshold turnover.
How to Get GST Registration for Meesho Seller?
Step 1: Gather Documents
Get these before you start:
- PAN (Permanent Account Number) of the business owner
- Digital photo and proof of business (shop rent agreement or utility bill)
- Bank account details with canceled cheque
- Aadhar card for address proof (if owner-based)
- Passport photo (if sole proprietor or owner)
Step 2: Create an Account on GST Portal
Go to gst.gov.in and register your login: name, email, mobile. Complete OTP verification.
Step 3: Select Business Type
Choose ‘Sole Proprietorship’, ‘LLP’, or ‘Private Limited’ depending on your store’s legal form.
Step 4: Fill Basic Details
Enter PAN, business name, trade name, email, mobile, and business address. Upload proof documents.
Step 5: Add Bank Details
Enter your bank account number and upload a cancelled cheque or bank statement.
Step 6: Jurisdiction Details
The portal automatically assigns the proper GST office based on your address. Confirm or change if needed.
Step 7: Upload Additional Info
If you have more places of business, partners, directors, or digital signatures, add them here. Most small sellers skip this.
Step 8: Submit & Track ARN
Once complete, the portal issues an ARN (Application Reference Number). The tax office processes it and sends your 15-digit GSTIN — usually within a week.
